Since it seems like everyone I know is either expecting or has recently finished expecting (it's like they have nothing better to do with their time), Amy and I are always on the lookout for clever children's books to give as gifts. The way I see it, if I have to know how to read, I don't see why my friends' kids should get off scott-free.
Unfortunately, kids' books today are crap. Sorry, but it's true. It's gotten to the point where even celebrities look at children's books and think "I could do better than that."
It is into this wasteland that Hillsdale alum and fellow Baw Beeseian Aaron Zenz boldly strides, colored pencils in hand. His contribution is entitled A Discourse on the Behavior and Study of Hiccupotami, or something along those lines. Buy it here. Amy and I bought five to give as gifts, so if you are one of the expecting or post-expecting folks mentioned above, well, you've been warned.
PS. The cast bios at the end of the book are hilarious. Every children's book author should adopt this practice.

At last - something we can agree on: the current state of children's literature :)
The Hiccupotamus looks like fun, thank goodness. I still think Amy and Sarah need to collaborate on a book
